Nissinen Guns Downs 15 Soap Box Derby
|
Everything was working for Kerkko Nissinen at Field of the Champs. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The sinker was working.
In an unforgettable performance, the 26-year-old Nissinen fanned 15 Soap Box Derby and sparked the 7-1 Jackson Hole Bucks victory over Summit County . He left Soap Box Derby hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it.
"I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Jackson Hole manager . "His location and command were really something."
In addition to collecting 15 strikeouts over 8 innings, Nissinen allowed 3 hits and 1 walk in a superlative outing.
"I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Nissinen said with a smile.
This season, Nissinen has registered 4 wins and 1 loss in 5 starts with a 0.96 ERA.
