Monsters End Lane Streak Monday, June 25th , 2074 The Jasper Mom & Pops lost to the Lake Champlain Monsters, 5-0, at Field of the Oysters, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Dave Lane's 22-game hitting streak. The third baseman went 0-for-4 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Lane, we would win the game," Monsters manager explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." This season, Lane has banged out 83 hits in 259 at-bats for a .320 average with 8 home runs. He is getting on base at a .388 pace and his totals also include 41 RBIs and 41 runs scored. |
