Lexington Second Baseman Picked ATL Player of the Week Monday, August 1st, 2061 It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Atlantic League, but last week Shawn Mathis of the Lexington Platinum reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Mathis rocked opposing pitching for a .472 average (17-for-36), 2 home runs and 12 RBIs to come away with the award. Mathis is hitting .346 this year with 3 home runs and 60 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .422, 49 walks and scored 72 times. |
